Period Power: Embracing Menstruation with Dignity and Confidence

Menstruation is a natural part of life, yet for millions of girls and women, it comes with shame, stigma, and silence. At Perfect Vision Women Tanzania, we believe that every girl deserves to experience her period with dignity, confidence, and pride—not fear or embarrassment.

That’s why we launched our “Period Power” initiative—an empowering campaign focused on transforming how menstruation is perceived and managed in our communities.

Restoring Dignity Through Access

One of the key components of our work is ensuring access to safe, reusable sanitary pads for girls and women who cannot afford them. In many communities across Tanzania, girls miss school during their periods simply because they lack menstrual products. This not only affects their education but also their self-esteem and long-term opportunities.

To tackle this, Perfect Vision Women Tanzania has conducted multiple sanitary pad distribution events in schools, rural villages, and underserved urban areas. These events are not just about handing out pads—they are about restoring dignity.

Our Impact in Action

In each distribution, we provide:

  • Reusable sanitary pad kits (with washing and storage instructions)

  • Educational sessions on menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and self-care

  • Open discussions to break the silence and normalize conversations around periods

We’ve reached hundreds of girls and women, ensuring they not only receive products but also feel supported, educated, and empowered to manage their menstrual health with confidence.

Changing the Narrative

By embracing menstruation with dignity and confidence, we are working to eliminate the stigma and taboos that hold girls back. Through community engagement, awareness campaigns, and practical support, our goal is to create a society where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, freedom, or opportunity.
