PERFECT VISION WOMEN TANZANIA is an NGO,
The late MAMA HAPPY started the Perfect Vision Women Group. Her vision was to create a safe space for women and girls to discuss the difficult life challenges that they face on a daily basis.
Her Vision Statement was and still is:
CREATE A WORLD WHERE EVERY WOMAN AND GIRL HAS EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, ACCESS TO QUALITY HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.
Mama Happy’s daughter Editha Faustine and her team are managing the program and ensuring that her LEGACY LIVES ON.
The organization trains up to 15 young girls from the community for a 1-year program, at the end of the year the girls graduate with a certificate. The young girls that are selected for the program face many challenges.
Perfect Vision can only do the above with DONATIONS, FUNDING, and VOLUNTEERS.
Why does Perfect Vision need Volunteers?
The women learn English (from volunteers when available) which is key to unlocking job opportunities in Tanzania. Since most of the girl’s education has stopped due to lack of finances. Volunteers teach lessons in areas such as health, finances, life skills, and entrepreneurship. The women learn practical skills from each other such as sewing clothes, and bags, making jewelry, teaching cooking classes, and beading classes. Additionally, they make paper bags to sell to shops and numerous other projects are in the works.
When the Organization receives donations, Perfect Vision is able to help the wider community. One of their big projects is to make reusable sanitary pads for distribution in local government schools and disadvantaged communities. Many girls have their education disrupted one week out of every month by their menstrual cycle simply because they cannot afford sanitary products.
It cost 20,000 TSH + (approximately £8 or $10) for the materials and the women’s labor for each set containing two shields, six washable pads, a pair of underwear, a bag for used pads, soap to wash their hands, and a pretty carrier bag. One set can be used for several years. It can’t be stressed enough what a difference these products make for women and girls living in abject poverty.
With the support of donations, Perfect Vision is able to help women and girls with their health insurance. The health insurance cost 30,000TSH+ (approximately £12 or $15) and covers one woman and five family members per year.
Furthermore, with generous donations the organization visits struggling families in the local community to ensure they receive necessary medical attention for HIV and other illnesses, to provide basic food supplies, and even to assist with housing and childcare costs
